November starts the National Lung Cancer Awareness Month campaign. Please participate in the fight against lung cancer by joining us at the 5th Annual Race for Breath 5K in Virginia Beach.
The Race for Breath Lung Cancer 5K Run/Walk has become a premier event in the fight against lung cancer. In total, Race for Breath has raised over $350,000 for lung cancer research, education, advocacy, and treatment. This year the goals are even loftier----through the Race for Breath Lung Cancer 5K, The Race for Breath Foundation plans to raise $100,000 for The Lung Cancer Alliance, the only national non-profit organization dedicated solely to advocating for people living with lung cancer or at risk for the disease. The Lung Cancer Alliance’s initiative is to make fighting lung cancer a priority for more people and change public perceptions about the disease. The Lung Cancer Alliance is also committed to advancing a lung cancer research public policy agenda.
In addition to raising funds for The Lung Cancer Alliance, The Race for Breath Foundation is committed to educating the public about lung cancer, its risk factors, prevention, and early detection. With no known cure for lung cancer, prevention and early detection are key. In 2006, the American Cancer Society estimated that there would be over 174,470 new cases of lung cancer , and an estimated 162,460 people will die of lung cancer. That is why it is so important to detect lung cancer early and to prevent people from getting this horrible disease! You can help in the fight against lung cancer! Join the Race for Breath team!
The Run/Walk event is open to all participants who seek a challenge, a runner-friendly course or just a fun and healthy way to support Lung Cancer awareness. The race features a very scenic route along the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
Make the Race for Breath an annual tradition for you, your friends, and your family!
