The 6th Annual Race for Breath Lung Cancer 5K Run/Walk,
1 Mile Walk, and Kid's Fun Run

Introduction
The Race for Breath is sure to bring out good competition, as well as those who support the cause. A kid's fun run adds to the festivities. Proceeds of this event benefit The Lung Cancer Alliance, the only national non-profit organization dedicated solely to advocating for people living with lung cancer or at risk for the disease.
Race Packet Pickup Information
We strongly encourage participants to pick up race packets the day before the race at Running Etc. from 3:00-7:00 p.m on Thursday, Nov. 5th (1707 Colley Ave., NorVa) and on Friday, Nov. 6th (1940 Laskin Rd. #308, VaBch). Visit the their website at www.runningetc.com.
Packet pick-up will be available at 24th St. the morning of the race. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and will end promptly at 8:45 a.m. The event will begin at 9 a.m.
Race Location and Course Map
All Race events (ceremonies, registration, race, etc.) will begin and end at 24th Street on Atlantic Avenue at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

Safety Reminder
For the safety of all participants, our insurance company requests that headsets, inline skates, and pets not be allowed on the course. For safety reasons, participants with strollers/baby joggers are strongly urged to join in the 1 mile walk.
Directions and Parking on Race Day
From Interstate 64:
Take 264 East to the Virginia Beach oceanfront (which ends at Atlantic Avenue). Turn left on Pacific Avenue (one street before Atlantic Avenue) and continue to 24th street. Free parking is throughout the oceanfront at this time of year; there is also free parking at the 25th street parking lot. Plan to arrive prior to 9:00 a.m. to allow plenty of time to park!

Teams and Pledges Welcome
Friends, families and co-workers are encouraged to form teams and participate in the race together. Teams can honor loved ones who have battled lung cancer, represent schools or neighborhoods or simply provide a fun, healthy way to socialize while supporting a great cause. A team consists of 5 or more people. All team members must register PRIOR to November 5, 2009. A Team Award will be given to the team with the MOST registered members!
Race Awards and Prizes
*Awards will go to the overall top fundraiser, as well as the top male and female fundraisers. Download your 2009 Pledge Form here and start collecting now!
*Awards for the 5K Run will be presented after the race to the:
top three male and top three female cancer survivors overall
top three male and top three female finishers overall
top three male and female finishers in the age groups listed below:

Awards for the 5K Walk will be presented after the race to the:
top three male and top three female finishers overall
top three masters (30 and above) male and female finishers
*A $100 gift certificate to Running, etc. will be given to the overall top male and female runners.
*A 1 year Membership to Gold's Gym Chesapeake will be given as an award to the winner of the "Middle of the Pack."
* Awards will be given to the Kids that participate in the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
* A Team Award will be given to the team with the MOST registered members!
* Raffle Prizes will also be available to win. Tickets will be on sale at packet pick-up, as well as the morning of the race!
Race Timing and Results
The 5K Run and 5K Walk will be "Chip" timed by the Tidewater Striders. In order to receive an official time you must pick-up your "Chip" the morning of the race.

Race Photos
TriDuo.com Photographers will be on the course, at the finish line, and throughout the event capturing your moment. After the race you will be sent an email with a link to your race photos. Race photos will be available through Tri Duo!

Kid's Activities
MY-GYM Children's Fitness Center will be at Race for Breath with their Monkey Mascot!!! There will also be games, an obstacle course, and a 1 Mile Kid's Fun Run!
